Lombok isn't just an island, it's a piece of paradise, a heaven for surfers. Crystal clear water, perfect waves and white sand beaches. Here's everything you need to know about Lombok if you want to have an unforgettable surf trip!

Frequently Asked Questions to get to Lombok & where to surf

How to get to Lombok, Indonesia?

3 ways to reach Lombok, this dreamy island paradise:

  1. Plane - The fastest and easiest option
  2. Fast Boat - For those coming from nearby islands and carrying boards
  3. Ferry - A more budget-friendly but longer adventure

I really recommend the plane, it’s the easiest and fastest way to reach Lombok:

Plane | 25-40 mins
From: Bali, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore
Arrival: Lombok International Airport (LOP)
Airport to Kuta: ~20 mins by car
Airlines: Garuda / Lion Air / AirAsia / Citilink

Do I need a visa to travel to Lombok, Indonesia?

Yup! You’ll need a Visa On Arrival (VOA) to enter Indonesia. This is valid for 30 days. You can apply online HERE or get it at the airport on arrival when you go through the passport control. You can extend the VOA for 30 more days and allows you to stay for 60 days. You will need to go to an immigration office to extend your visa to 60 days. If you want to stay more than 60 days you can do a visa run, that means you must flight out of Indonesia before your 60 days expire. You can easily fly to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore and can be done within a day.

Is Lombok safe for a solo traveler?

100% yes. Lombok is super welcoming, and its vibe is relaxed and friendly. Solo or with a crew, you’ll feel right at home. It’s one of the reasons people feel so good here, always return or never leave! And let's be honest, you'll never be alone there!

When is the best time to surf in Lombok?

Lombok has consistent waves, you can surf all year round, but if you want those perfect glassy waves, the best season is November to April. It’s the rainy season tho, but the wind drops and more breaks start working.
